Engineering Services Technician
Company: Tuolumne Utilities District
Under supervision of the District Engineer, performs a variety of administrative, technical and engineering tasks; receives and processes engineering drawings and applications for water and sewer service; prepares agreements for water and sewer line extension; reviews CEQA documents for development projects; interfaces with customers, other public agencies; and performs related work as required.
Candidate Qualifications:
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• An associate degree in engineering technology, civil engineering technology, drafting, construction management, environmental studies, public administration, or a related field is desirable.
• Must possess a valid California driver's license, have a satisfactory driving record, and be insurable by the District to operate District vehicles.
• Two (2) years of technical, administrative, engineering support, public works, utility service, development review, permit processing, or closely related experience involving public contact and interpretation/application of policies, codes, standards, regulations, or procedures.
The ideal candidate is a customer-focused professional who excels at balancing public service with regulatory responsibility. They build strong relationships while confidently interpreting and clearly explaining District rules, policies, and regulations. They are equally comfortable guiding customers and delivering difficult decisions with professionalism, clarity, and consistency.
Typical Work Hours:
7:00 AM and 4:30 PM Monday – Friday. Schedule subject to change as required, to meet the needs of the District. Must be willing to work overtime and/or alternate schedule when required. May be called in during non-business hours to assist with emergencies.
Starting Hourly Range: $42.23 - $51.32/hour
