Residential Driver
Company: Cal-Waste Recovery Systems
Reporting to the Route Supervisor, Residential Drivers operate heavy-trucks and are responsible for the collection of residential household waste or recyclable material. Driver will transport the material to a disposal, transfer or recycle facility when trucks reach legal load capacity. Driver safely maneuvers vehicles in residential environments. Navigates high traffic, narrow two-lane highways, congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots with seasonal snow and ice.
Residential Driver Duties :
• Performs pre and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle using the standard Driver Vehicle Inspection Report.
• Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs.
• Provides warm and friendly customer service.
• Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service issues to Route Supervisor or Dispatch.
• Services customer sites leaving free of any debris.
• Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load household waste, recycling and/or yard and garden material.
• Driver will transport the material to a disposal, transfer or recycle facility.
• Driver navigates high traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, lots through ice and snow.
• Driver will need to install chains and unchain in snow and ice conditions.
• Utilize onboard computer dispatch and routing system. Works closely with Route Supervisor and Customer Service to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
• Identifies and reports all carts in need of repair or replacement.
• Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and check out process.
• Performs all duties as scheduled by Route Supervisor and assists other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
• Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
• 1+ years of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL.
• Hold a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check, criminal history and motor vehicle record review.
